This is a percussion boot pistol was made by "W. Gibbs" and is dating to the 1850's. It is a single-shot, under hammer design with a 7-1/2" octagonal, rifled barrel, about .42 caliber. This pistol is in very good condition with about 70% of its original brown finish remaining. About 30% of the barrel has some varnish left protecting the brown. The brass thumb plate and the brass plate on the butt have a nice dark yellow brass patina. The action works correctly. The wooden grip is fine with most of the varnish remaining. The brass strip originally at the base of the pommel is missing. Overall length is 12". This is a fine example.
