Colt SAA in desirable .44-40 cal., bore is very good, mechanics are excellent, tight crisp action, original Colt grips somewhat worn, no cracks chips or repairs. It has a 4 ¾ barrel with original front sight and very good 2 line Colt address markings and Colt Frontier Six Shooter marked on the left side of the barrel with the word Colt partially visible. The frame has the Colts patent date markings and the rampant horse in a circle markings excellent, Serial #171315 matching, manufactured in 1897. Metal overall has a dark aged patina finish. I think one of the bonuses of this gun is that it comes with a Colt letter showing all correct specifications and that it was shipped to The Winchester Repeating Arms Co. 1897. Perhaps is was intended for guard use?
