Attractive fully engraved pinfire 6-shot pepperbox pocket pistol with original ivory grips. 7mm pinfire, double-action, most likely Belgian or French manufacture. The barrels measure 1 3/4". Elaborate scroll engraving overall. Very attractive 2-piece original ivory grips. The tool screwed into the base of the grip is used to eject spent cartridges. Patina overall is an aged dull-grey. The action indexes properly and crisply with each pull of the folding trigger, and then resets when the trigger folds up. Overall length about 4 1/2”.
These were imported and used by both sides during the Civil War as back-up handguns.
