Civil War Colt Special Rifle Musket, model 1863 with 1863 date on the lock and the barrel upper-tang. .58 caliber. The stock has fine cartouches. Crisp markings, fine wood to metal fit. The gun is in very nice+ condition overall, it was stored for years somewhere where some residue built up on the gun over time, probably protected it all these years. The wood is untouched, not cleaned or messed with. Wood to metal fit is excellent and does not look like the gun has ever been taken apart. The bore is fine, bright, rifling is crisp. There is some very light residue in bore but the bore is much better than average for a mid war rifle. It could use a light cleaning to unveil a real gem. Crisp tight action. The rear sight is blued.
