Rare early 16th century Snaphaunce Belt Pistol. This beautiful early Snaphaunce Belt Pistol was made in Italy in the 16th century. It features an early plain Italian walnut stock and a beautiful lock with finely exececuted chiseled reliefs. The stock is in very good condition and show no evidence of having been sanded or refinished. The wood is all sound and there is a carved creature of some sorts in front of the triggerguard.  The lock also remains in excellent condition. The action of the lock does function with a reliable half and full cock. The lock retains all its original parts, the sliding pan cover functions correctly as it should. The overall length is roughly 19" with a .54 caliber guage bore.  The metal overall is just the way it should be, smooth gun-grey aged patina.  The Ramrod is original to the gun.  Snaphaunce weapons are very rarely encountered.
