Civil War W.I.A. identified Sharps 4-barrel derringer. Model 2A, .30 caliber, serial #731 matching. The gun itself is rare with a sliding locking devise under the barrel at the muzzle. Barrels are mottled grey with some light surface pitting. Sharps markings are clear on both sides of the frame. Frame and backstrap retain approximately .70% tarnished original silver. 2-piece grips are excellent. Mechanics are excellent with rotating firing pin. Backstrap in fancy script letters "F W PFAFF". This is Francis W Pfaff, enlisted 04/16/61 as a Private, mustered into 5th Massachusetts Infantry, Company 'C', mustered out 07/31/61. 12/01/61 mustered into 32nd Massachusetts Infantry, Company 'C', deserted 09/11/62.
