It could fire 9-shots of .42 caliber, in addition to one huge .63 caliber shotgun blast of from a smooth bore shotgun barrel located under the main barrel. This would be your last option for close-up defense as depicted in the movie "Gettysburg" with the gallant Confederate charge of advance up Little Round Top. This reproduction LeMat is well made and is fully operational. The top barrel flat is stamped "COL. LeMAT.". The right barrel flat is stamped "NAVY ARMS CO. RIDGEFIELD N.J.". Right barrel flat "BLACK POWDER ONLY". Bottom of frame on right "B D. 1863". Condition overall is excellent, unfired. Retains .100% factory blued finish. Hammer with bright case colors, fully operational shotgun firing pin. Mechanics are excellent. 2-piece checkered walnut grips are excellent as well.
