Inscribed Remington new model Army revolver. 5-shot conversion, .46 rimfire, made for the Western Indian Wars. The particular gun was purchased by The American Express Company and is stamped on the backstrap "AM. EX. CO. 265". The American Express Company was founded in 1850 Buffalo, New York. The gun would have found its way westward with The American Express Company. The metal over is a dark-brown patina, light surface pitting on both sides of the frame and hammer. The cylinder has a clear Rollin White patent date stamp. Clear barrel markings, the bore is bright and crisply rifled. This example is complete with ejector rod. Excellent mechanics. The grips are very good+ with expected age handling wear. Clear cartouche on right grip, left grip cartouche is all there, just somewhat worn. Inspectors initials overall, original front sight. Comes with an original Western-style flap holster, very good condition overall. It has a vine-leaf motif covering the front. Seams are tight, brass final for closure of the flap. Back has a single-belt loop stamped "45". Overall the leather surface has aged from wear, although sold and pliable.

Accompanied by an original American Express Company shipment receipt dated 1865.  Excellent condition, nicely framed, dated February 22, 1865 for a shipment of Ale in Erie, Pennsylvania.  Has an orange 2 cent cancelled American Express Company Revenue stamp, dated 1865 as well.  Very nice looking set with the gun, holster and original receipt.
