Sharps 4-barrel derringer in .30 caliber rimfire. Serial #12882 matching. The markings overall are clear and crisp with the right side of the frame being marked in a circular pattern "C.SHARPS & Co / PHILADA. PA.", while the left side is marked "C SHARPS / PATENT 1859". Production of these began in 1859 just before the Civil War and many soldiers purchased one to carry during the war. The fluted barrels on this example are an aged-medium grey, smooth patina. The brass overall is untouched with a wonderful mellow age patina,  Excellent 2-piece checkered gutta-percha grips showing no cracks or chips. The mechanics are excellent, complete with rotating firing pin, often missing. This is an untouched, complete example in excellent condition overall of a classic desirable American derringer.
