EXCAVATED 1790 SPANISH REALE

Price: $95.00
Availability: in stock
Prod. Code: REL21

Excavated 1790 Spanish Reale. Dug in a Federal camp near Crump’s Landing on the Tennessee River. Thin silver worn, but both sides still very legible, date on front bottom "1790". A hole pierced at top. These are also often found cut into pieces or “bits”. These historic pieces were actually used by Revolutionary War soldiers and families, as well as early citizens of the newly formed United States of America. Considering the age and historical significance of this Revolutionary War-era coin, it’s still amazingly affordable. Produced at the Spanish-American colonial mint in Bolivia, it was struck in 90.3% fine silver from 1789-1790, and bears the portrait of Charles IV.
