Confederate model 1840 cavalry saber cut down into a fighting knife, it is 18.75" long overall with a 13" clip point blade, it was very well done and has a great balanced feel, the blade has a dark brown patina and several nicks to the edge. The branches from the brass guard were removed and filed out. It retains the wood grip which is split on the underside, the leather wrap is gone as is the wire braid except for a small amount under the pommel cap, overall a very well done conversion, no doubt Confederate.
Displays great.
