Civil War very nice condition, model 1864, .58 caliber Federal cartridge box. This cartridge box has the embossed US oval on the front flap. There are 2 small holes on either side of the US where someone at one time had intentions of adding a US oval brass plate to the front, I presume. The box is maker stamped clearly on the front lower center of the inner flap "H. G. HAEDRICH / PHILADA". A seldom encountered maker's stamp. This cartridge box has no flaking, just expected age surface crazing to the leather. The box overall is quite pliable, complete with both iron roller buckles intact as well as both belt loops, the leather closure tab, side tabs and both cartridge tins inside. This is a really nice Civil War Federal cartridge box. This box would have been produced in March of 1864.
