Original dug Civil War Confederate "Egg-style" plate. This plate is in very good dug condition with no breaks, just creases. These style plates were stamped lightly, you can still see on this one clear standing "C S". The hooks that were applied to the back originally are long gone. This style matches Mullinax plate #136. It is associated with the Army of the Tennessee. This plate was recovered by Larry Hicklen himself of Mid-Tennessee Relics, read on...
"This is a die stamped, "egg" shaped, CS oval waist belt plate. I personally recovered this buckle from the camp of the 1st Alabama Cavalry CSA. This camp was raided on March 23, 1863, by General David Stanley's Federal Cavalry out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The camp was located near Midland, Tennessee. The Union Cavalry surprised the Confederates at the first light of dawn and caught many literally still sleeping. The Confederate Cavalry scattered in every direction and left their camp in Union hands to be totally destroyed. When I recovered this buckle, it was folded in half, and I unfolded it right there on the spot where I found it."
Accompanied by a L.O.A. from Larry Hicklen of Mid-Tennessee Relics.
