Civil War pattern 1839 "S N Y" State of New York waist belt plate. This particular buckle was picked up on the Cold Harbor, VA battlefield around the turn of the century. The face is a very good patina with some edge wear above the "S". Also looks as though it took a bayonet or saber hit above the "Y". Full lead back with some discoloration remaining, in addition to all three hooks.
