Civil War identified "Shaker" shaving mirror. Typical Civil War era shaving mirror, with hindged wooded cover to protect mirror. Ink marked on inside cover "BENJM F. SHEPARD", there is an additional mark, but I can't make it out. Private Benjamin F. Shepard enlisted 08/20/1862 into the 14th New Jersey infantry, company "C", and was mustered out 06/18/1865. The 14th New Jersey was a hard fighting unit of the Army of the Potomac seeing action at Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor, Winchester, Cedar Creek and Petersburg. The mirror is in fine condition overall, just slight handling wear. Complete with original loop at top for hanging. Some paperwork accompanies.
