Traces of strong case colors remaining on both sides of the frame.  Brass backstrap and triggerguard have a nice untouched age patina with thinning silver. Cylinder scene rates a crisp .85%. Bore is good with rifling, will clean better. Mechanics are tight. Two-line Hartford barrel address, Colt's patent marking of left side of frame. Grips are excellent retaining almost all of the original varnish. Backstrap nicely engraved in block lettering "CHAS. H. STURGIS.".  Charles H Sturgis enlisted as a private on 06/17/1863 into the 20th Emergency Pennsylvania Militia Infantry to repel Lee's invasion of Pennsylvania during the Gettysburg campaign, Company "K" and mustered out 08-10-1863. He later enlisted again September 1864 into the 198th Pennsylvania, Comppany "E".  Private Sturgis was present and would have seen action at Siege of Petersburg, Poplar Springs Church, Hatcher's Run, Weldon Railroad, White Oak Road, Five Forks and Appomattox, Virginia.  When he left, he was declaring for an invalid pension.  A lengthy folder accompany this historic revolver.
