Identified stencil to Darius W Tuttle, 13th New Hampshire infantry, company "F". Private Tuttle enlisted on 08/22/1862, and was mustered out 06/21/1865. He was wounded twice, first at Cold Harbor, VA 06/03/1864, and secondly at Fort Harrison, VA 09/29/1864. The 13th NH infantry was a hard fighting unit seeing action at Fredericksburg, Bermuda Hundred, Cold Harbor, Siege of Petersburg, Mine Explosion, Fort Harrison, Fair Oaks and being mustered out at Richmond, VA. What makes this stencil special in addition to Private Tuttle being wounded twice, and that the sheet brass, clipped-corner stencil is housed in its' original pasteboard box. Stencil measures 1 1/4" X 2.5", bearing "DARIUS W. TUTTLE.". Both the lid and bottom of the box are additionally identified in ink with "CO F 13TH NH". Box is 1.5" X 2 3/4". The original pasteboard box and stencil are both in very good+ condition overall. A wonderful identified piece of a hard fighting soldier and unit.
