Fine condition overall Springfield model 1884 Trapdoor rifle, serial #349637, manufactured 1887. Caliber .45-70, bore is excellent, bright with distinct grooves. The barrel has a wonderful patina of original faded blue mixing now with smooth age plum color. The barrel has a clear "VP and eagle" stamp on the left side of the breech. Also stamped with a "P" and "A". The breechblock is stamped "U.S. / MODEL / 1884". Just ahead of breechblock barrel is stamped "21 / G". The lockplate has clear U.S. Springfield and eagle markings. Correct grooved trigger. Buttplate is stamped "U.S.", and barrel bands stamped with correct "U". Original ramrod and swivels. Correct rear Buffington sight stamped with correct "R". The walnut stock overall is very good with correct cartouche on the left. The mechanics are tight.
