Allen & Thurber 6-shot "pocket size" pepperbox pistol. .31 caliber, 3.5" barrel cluster, in fine condition overall. Ribbed barrel cluster is marked on a rib "ALLEN & THURBER / WORCESTER". About .70%+ original blue thinning finish remains. Attractive floral engraved frame and nipple shield. The bar hammer bar is stamped "ALLEN'S PATENT". Mechanics are very good. The 2-piece wood grips have a wonderful aged look exhibiting natural handling wear and are very good. Many of these were carried by Civil War soldiers on both sides.
