A rare, early production revolver with only 250 produced, a Pettengill 6-shot revolver, with the split type loading lever assembly. .34 caliber, referred to as the "Navy" or "Belt" model. In appearance a rather odd percussion revolver of the Civil War era, double action only. Serial #898, matching, 4.5" octagon barrel. Metal overall is a pleasing smooth aged antique grey, with areas of light freckling. Top and bottom of frame patent markings are there, somewhat obscured from wear. The rosewood grips are very good+ condition overall. Mechanics are fine, often encountered as not working. A very unique revolver and a good example.
