AN ORIGINAL, MID-1800'S MECHANICAL DRAFTING SET IN FINE CONDITION, HOUSED IN A BEAUTIFUL WALNUT BOX CASE. THE FINE, TWO-TIER WALNUT CASE MEASURES 7 1/4" LONG X 4.5" WIDE X 1 3/4" HIGH, AND FEATURES A DOUBLE-HINGED, LOCKABLE LIFT-UP LID. CASE LID OPENS TO REVEAL A HANDSOME, DEEP PURPLE, VELVET-COVERED, FITTED TRAY FOR GERMAN SILVER INSTRUMENTS, ONE WITH AN IVORY HANDLE. INTERIOR SATIN LID FOLDS DOWN TO REVEAL A PAPER STORAGE SPACE AND A PAPER SLEEVE-BAND THAT HAS TORN. BOTTOM TIER HOLD A PERIOD RULER, AND KEY (NOT FOR CASE), ALONG WITH IDENTIFICATION OF PREVIOUS OWNER "ARTHUR GUENTHER, SHEYBOYGAN, WI". INLAID IN THE TOP OF LID IS A BRASS RECTANGULAR INSERT WITH THE INITIALS "A.G." SCRATCHED IN. SPECIMEN FEATURES TEN INDIVIDUAL DRAFTING INSTRUMENTS IN WORKING CONDITION. WOOD LID SHOWS JUST A HINT OF LIGHT SURFACE CRACKING. BOX INTERIOR HAS MAINTAINED ITS ORIGINAL BRIGHT COLORING. NO MAKER'S LABEL. MISSING ROUND BRASS INSERT FOR KEY HOLE, EASILY REPLACEABLE IF DESIRED.
