Identified straight razor in the original pasteboard box. Horn-handled razor all legible, carved with a knife point on one side "HENRY FRANKLIN / CO. C 11 NJ VOL. / 1863". The other side with a great inscription reading "GLORY TO LINCOLN". The razor is in excellent condition overall with no chips, cracks or breaks to the horn handle. The razor blade has a nice age-grey patina, blade is fancy etched "SILVER STEEL RAZOR". Also stamped "MANUFACTURED BY / WADE & BUTCHER / SHEFFIELD". Sharp edge. The original pasteboard box is in very good condition, embossed "WADE & BUTCHER'S / FAMOUS KEEN-SHAVING BOW RAZOR". Also has an embossed moustache. The other side has a period pasted label in brown ink reading "THIS RAZOR USED IN THE WAR BETWEEN THE STATES 1861-1865 BY PVT. HENRY FRANKLIN 11 N.J. VOLS. CO. C.". Private Henry Franklin enlisted in the 11th New Jersey Infantry, Company "C" on 07-02-1862 and was mustered out 06-06-1865. He was promoted to Corporal on 04-01-1863. The 11th New Jersey Infantry saw action at Battle of Fredericksburg, Battle of Chancellorsville, Battle of GETTYSBURG, Battle of Beverly Ford, Battle of Locust Grove, Battle of Mine Run, Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, Battle of Barker's Mills, Siege of Petersburg and First Battle of Deep Bottom.
