Cool Civil War Pepperbox pistol, .38 caliber with one chamber completely blown out from overload of powder. Blew out one chamber, part of the nipple shield and tore away the nipple. You can still see the scroll engraving on the left side of the frame and buttcap. The hammer will still rise when the trigger is pulled, but the barrels do not index. The metal overall is dark with surface pitting. The grips are still in good shape. This piece would have been dropped and laid on its right side until it was recovered, as evident by the wear. This is certainly a unique relic and the centerpiece of a relic collection.
