Beautiful rare 17th century Italian Miquelet pistol. .52 caliber. 6 1/4" round barrel which slowly transitions to octagon at the breech. The barrel is smooth steel with some star designs at the breech. Undecorated lock and hammer, with the exception of the front of the frizzen. Inside the lock it is signed "S. Giustino". The finely figured, carved walnut stock is enhanced with raised relief work, fancy ornate triggerguard of gold and silver, buttcap, ramrod ferrules and sideplate. Also ebony tipped stock at muzzle. Original horn-tipped ramrod. Mechanics are excellent. Finally an ornate brass and silver escutcheon with a crown mounted to the rear of the barrel tang. Approximately 11-inches overall. Condition is excellent overall, exhibiting modest and respectful handling wear.
