Remington .41 caliber O/U derringer. Type II with single-line barrel address "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION, N.Y.". Barrel address is very clear, underside stamped "44", as well as matching frame. Bores retain rifling are dark and pitted. Originally blued, metal now has turned an untouched aged dark blue-brown patina overall. Originally blued O/U's are less common than the usually encountered nickled derringers. Subdued traces of case color on hammer. Mechanics are tight with the rotating firing pin working properly. Fine original checkered grips exhibiting little handling wear. Unbroken hinges. These guns were popular with gamblers as they were easy to conceal and have a large caliber. An American classic firearm.
