Serial #5091 matching, back of cylinder stamped and matching, wedge #5261, 1861 manufacture. Accompanied by an original Colt factory letter dated 12/10/1976 stating that the revolver was originally shipped to "OFFICER, UNITED STATES NAVY UNITED STATES NAVY YARD NEW YORK, NEW YORK MAY 9, 1861.".  ,44 caliber bore is very good+, mechanics are tight.  Worn Colt's patent marking on frame, you can definitely see "COLT'S" under a magnifying glass.  Cut for shoulder stock, 4-screw frame.  Patent dates are not present in a cylinder flute which is correct and documented.  "L" on the left side of the triggerguard. Has a 8" barrel with very good Colt's one-line New York barrel address. Wood grips are very good+ and stamped on the butt "I" over "F A R" inspector's initials.  Barrel retains .60% original faded blue mixed under a pleasing untouched medium pewter-grey.  Faded original case colors on frame.  Untouched iron backstrap and brass triggerguard. A super rare example of this desirable U.S. Navy-issued classic Colt handgun.
