Fine Colt model 1861 Navy Conversion. Serial #2787, matching, cylinder #89724, conversion correct. This serial # range puts this Conversion in the so-called group one or "First Model", made as an original conversion at the Colt factory, rather than being sent back to be converted from original percussion. The gun is in fine untouched condition overall with vivid original case colors on both sides of the frame and back of recoil. Faded original blue remains in protected areas mainly around wedge, underside of barrel and along ejector housing. The rest of metal is an untouched pleasing grey. Strong cylinder scene at about .75%. .38 caliber. Clear New York barrel address, "NEW YORK" & "AMERICA" stamped light. "COLTS PATENT" and crisp 2-line patent dates on frame. Brass triggerguard is stamped "36 CAL" and "L", correct as surplus parts from the Colt factory during assembly. Brass is uncleaned with a nice age patina. Screws are unbugered, with a couple retaining the original factory nitor blue. Grips are very good with age handling wear. Mechanics are tight and crisp. Bore is very good+, will clean better. These Conversions are very highly desirable, this one is better than most '61 Navy Conversions.
