Civil War era tooth extractor/pliers. Steel instrument with checkered handles, checkering is not worn. Measures 6 3/4" in length. Stamped on the front under the jaws "J. D. CHEVALIER / NEW YORK”. This is the earlier mark for this maker as "AND SONS" is not added. Other side stamped "360 BROADWAY". Very clear markings. Metal surface overall is aged pewter-grey. Nice display item...Ouch!
