Circa late 19th c. mortar and pestle. The mortar is clearly stamped on the base "WARRANTED / T. M. & S. / ACID PROOF", there is also a "2" stamped. This is Thomas Maddocks Sons Co. which worked out of Trenton, New Jersey in the 1880's. The pieces have a wonderful aged look, the mortar has no chips or cracks and measures 5 3/4" wide and 3" tall. The pestle measures 7.5" long and is stamped with a "3". The hardwood handle is fine. Wonderful item for display or use.
