.58 caliber U.S. pattern 1857 cartridge box and sling, complete. The leather is in very good condition overall with only light wear consistent with age, some areas of surface crackling. Attached to the outer front flap is a brass "US" oval cartridge box plate in very nice condition with light patina. The latch tab is very good and buckles are present. Both tins are present. The sling is in fine pliable condition overall. Attached to the sling is the round brass eagle breast plate in good condition with a smooth even patina. Sling measures 25" from the box. One small 1/4" nip to sling edge. A nice Civil War rig.
