General George Meade's personal copy of The History of the Pennsylvania Reserves Corps.  This is a 1st edition printing of the book, on the inside cover the ink inscription reads " TO MAJ. GEN. GEO. G. MEADE WITH COMPLIMENTS OF THE AUTHOR".  This book was written by J. R. Sypher Esquire and published by Elias Barr & Co. in 1865 at Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  This book was undoubtedly presented to General Meade in recognition of his role as Division Commander of the Pennsylvania Reserves early in the war.  The importance of this volume is not only that it was General Meade's personal copy, but is enhanced by his handwritten annotations and corrections regarding the Gettysburg Campaign.  On the section about the Battle of Gettysburg, Meade made corrections especially when it states that the enemy had the advantage.  The book remains in solid condition overall.  Engravings are present and clear.

This is a fine example of a book belonging to one of the key figures of the American Civil War, a rare opportunity to own.
